Phentermine is used as an appetite suppressant as part of an overall diet plan to reduce weight.

SIDE EFFECTS include
Dry mouth, sleeplessness, irritability, stomach upset or constipation may occur the first few days as your body adjusts to the medication.

PRECAUTIONS
Tell your doctor your complete medical history especially if you have high blood pressure, an over-active thyroid, glaucoma, diabetes or emotional problems.
Consult with your doctor if you think you are pregnant or before breast-feeding.
Alcohol can increase unwanted side effects of dizziness, so its use should be limited.

HOW TO TAKE THIS MEDICATION
Take on an empty stomach, once daily, 30-60 minutes before breakfast.
The tablet may be cut in half but not crushed or chewed.
Because phentermine may cause sleeplessness, avoid taking a dose late in the day.
Take it only as prescribed and not more often or longer than directed.

WHAT IF I MISS A DOSE?
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you can.
If it is late in the day, or near bedtime, do not take that dose.
Do not take double or extra doses.

WHAT INTERACTIONS CAN OCCUR WITH PHENTERMINE
linezolid
medications for blood pressure
medications for diabetes
medications for mental depression
other medicines or herbal products for weight loss or to decrease appetite
Tell your prescriber or health care professional about all other medications you are taking, including nonprescription medications, nutritional supplements, or herbal products.
Also tell your prescriber or health care professional if you are a frequent user of drinks with caffeine or alcohol, if you smoke, or if you use illegal drugs.
These may affect the way your medication works.

What is the appropriate Phentermine dose?

Adults under sixty:
Capsules- 15 to 37.5 mg each morning
Tablets - 15 to 37.5 mg each morning, or, take 15 to 37.5 mg in divided doses one-half hour before meals

Adults 60 and over:
Consult your physician a reduced dose may be appropriate
